ANHYDROUS HBR SHAPE AND PROPERTIES:

Anhydrous HBr is a colourless gas with a strong irritating odour, toxic, corrosive and slightly fuming. Anhydrous HBr decomposes on heating and produces a corrosive and toxic miasma when in contact with moist air. Anhydrous HBr can cause severe skin burns and eye damage. Anhydrous HBr is soluble in water, acetic acid and alcohol and is highly reductive, giving off Hydrogen Gas when reacting with reactive metals.

As a non-flammable and corrosive compressed gas, Gas HBr should be stored in a cool, well-ventilated warehouse at a temperature not exceeding 30°C. Cylinders for storing Gas HBr should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from sources of heat and ignition. Store cylinders in an upright position, with valves well sealed and full cylinders separated from empty cylinders.
